Australia Day Celebrations at the Village

January 3, 2017

Come to the Village on Australia Day

January 26th is coming up fast and the folk at the Village are busy planning another great Australia Day event for all.  It is one of the biggest days of the calendar for the Village and there is a lot being planned.  First of all, make a note in your diary.  It is Thursday January 26th, so put it in your diary!  Invite your family and friends to help us make it the biggest day yet.

What is on the Program?

The Indigenous Display will be open as will the Aviation Museum with its interactive display.  Have you ever tried to fly a plane?  You will be surprised how awesome it is “flying” with the Flight Simulators there.

The gates will open at 9 am sharp – Entry is just $10 for all, but children under 16 years are FREE.

You can park at QSEC via Tuckeroo Drive.  Give a gold coin donation to the Woodies (Caboolture Woodcrafters) who are looking after the parking for us.

Do you know where the Hospital Green is?  It is of course near the old hospital building.  This is where the Toad Races are being held – run by the Morayfield Rotary Club.  It is a Toad Load of fun – so go along and see how it all works.  You can choose your own Toad to race – too big to be a jockey?  No worries.  The Rotarians have got it all sorted.  Sounds like a lot of fun!  Maybe you will win “a pot of gold”!

There’s plenty of entertainment for the children.  There are two great shows at the Hospital Green.  There will be viewing stands there to get a good look at the Kangagang entertainers. The younger ones will be mesmerised by the show!

Ben Barker has been a popular entertainment at many of the Village events and he will be playing his unique blend of guitar and didgeridoo at the Indigenous Display.

The Country Pub opens at 10 am and with the help of Blarney Stone Irish Bush Band, you will be “bopping” until late in the afternoon.  They are favourites at the Village.  Beverages will be available at great prices!

One of our Village characters Peter Bigg will be on the stage to join in with his pvc didgeridoo.

When is the Parade?

The Big Parade is scheduled for 1 pm – with a variety of our Vintage Vehicles will make the journey around the Village.  For car enthusiasts, it is a great opportunity to see these machines “face to face”   Our machines are lovingly restored by our enthusiastic volunteers.
