2018 Australia Day – Activities, Food and More….

January 2, 2018

January 26th is coming up fast and the folk at the Village are busy planning another great Australia Day event for all.

It is one of the biggest days of the calendar for the Village and there is a lot being planned.  Invite your family and friends to help us make it the biggest day yet.

**AUSTRALIA DAY PROGRAMME NOW AVAILABLE**

Gates open at 9:00 am sharp.
Adults – $10 and Children under 16 FREE!

Plenty of parking at QSEC via Tuckeroo Drive with a gold coin donation to the Caboolture & District Woodcrafters.

Hotel & Entertainment

Kangagang – children’s concert on the hospital green, watch the young ones be mesmerised by this show plus the ‘make a musical instrument’ project – see their home page – www.thekangagang.com

The Country Pub opens at 10:00 am and with the help of Blarney Stone Irish Bush Band will keep hopping till late in the afternoon. A great group of entertainers, one of the Village favourites.

Two beers on tap from the Thirsty Chiefs plus our normal selection.

The Caboolture Kilties, our own pipe band of many years will be there to stir the memories and play lots of old favourites.

Our famous re-enactments, not necessarily noted for their accuracy in historical facts but very much noted for the noise, smoke and entertainment. Bushrangers also prowl the site from their lair looking for the poor victims of their strange brand of humour. Always entertaining.

Animals

Blackie and Josie are ready for an influx of visitors, so come along and see them in person.

Food

Pies with mushy peas at the pub, sausage rolls covered in tomato sauce there also and very hard to beat – but we can equal it.

Snags on a slice of bread topped by soft brown onions – delicious, supplied by our good friends at the Longyard Beef Company at Bellmere and Ningi.

We will have hamburgers this year cooked with tlc by our friends from Morayfield Lions.

Parade

Our Parade of the variety of vehicles you only normally see in books but these are working machines lovingly restored by their owners and the Village Restoration group.

Clubs

  • 11th Lighthorse Troop

All the Clubs will be open and some demonstrating their various skills, for example the Woodies will be demonstrating wood turning and the Gemmies talking and displaying many of their products most of which are for sale.

Interested in pottery then talk to the staff and book in to their classes. All the clubs on our premises are willing to take on new members in fact they thrive on it. Come along and see for yourself.
